Whether you’re planning your first visit or returning to Mission Point, we’ll help you navigate the best travel options to reach our resort with ease. Mackinac Island has no cars and no bridges, but it enjoys smooth connections from several nearby airports, a scenic ferry crossing, and even private flight options—if you prefer to fly direct.

By Air

Fresh Air Aviation offers air passenger service to Mackinac Island, departing from the Mackinac County Airport in St. Ignace. A taxi to Mission Point can be arranged to meet you at the airport on Mackinac Island. If you're flying into the area, we recommend Pellston Regional Airport, the closest and most convenient to Mackinaw City, which offers daily non-stop service through Detroit on Delta Airlines.

By Ferry

The most common way to travel to Mackinac Island is by ferry. We recommend Shepler's Mackinac Ferry, which offers departures from Mackinaw City and St. Ignace on the mainland. Guests are also welcome to take Arnold Transit Co., departing from Mackinaw City and St. Ignace as well. Our baggage handling fee covers transporting your luggage from the dock directly to your room. Please check the ferry websites for information on parking rates and other fees.

Arrive In Style
Pellston Regional Airport (PLN)

Located 12 miles south of Mackinac City, Pellston Regional is the closest commercial airport to Mackinac Island. It offers non-stop flights to and from Detroit via Delta Airlines. From there, it’s about a 30-minute drive to the ferry docks, where you’ll take a trip across the water.

Chippewa County International Airport (CIU)

Serving flights to and from cities like Detroit and Minneapolis–St. Paul, Chippewa County is another excellent gateway. Located 42 miles north of Mackinac City, you will enjoy a scenic drive to the ferry docks after your flight.

Runway to Ferry
Mackinaw Shuttle

For transportation between the Pellston Airport and the Mackinaw City ferry docks. Mackinaw Shuttle is available directly from Pellston Regional Airport. Transportation from other Michigan cities is based on availability, with reservations made in advance. Reservations are required by calling 231.539.7005.

Nothern Transport & Shuttle

Northern Transport & Shuttle is available from Chippewa County Airport to/from St. Ignace ferry docks to Mackinac Island. Reservations are required by calling 906.430.5337.

Cherry Capital Airport – Traverse City Airport (TVC)

Approximately a two-hour drive from the ferry dock, Cherry Capital Airport (Traverse City Airport – TVC) provides non-stop round-trip flights to and from northern Michigan and over15 cities, including Chicago, Atlanta, New York, and Orlando. Arrival there offers a beautiful view of Michigan scenery.

Gerald R. Ford International Airport (Grand Rapids Airport – GRR) offers non-stop round-trip flights between Grand Rapids, Michigan, and over 30 cities (including Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, and New York). The airport is approximately a four-hour drive from the ferry dock.

The county airport is located in St. Ignace and offers flights to Mackinac Island via Fresh Air Aviation. To arrange air transport from St. Ignace or for more information, contact Fresh Air Aviation at 231-237-9482 ext. 2, or Great Lakes Air at 906-643-7165.

Fly Direct
Mackinac Island Airport (MCD)

Mackinac Island Airport is one mile from Mission Point Resort. Its 3,500-footlighted, paved runway can accommodate private and charter aircraft. Airtaxi service between Pellston Regional is available 24 hours a day through Fresh Air Aviation. After arrival, horse-drawn taxi service is available for travel to our resort.
